Well for those who keep with such things it seems that a lesbian minister, who came out to her superiors and was defrocked by her church, is going to fight.. again this is right here in good old Pennsylvania.
By the way I don't know if this state is uncivilized or just trying to hold on to a golden age that never existed. You know that age. According to the more consertive elements it was back in the nineteen fifties. Mom in the kitchen, preferable pregnant and bare foot.
Men were men. No such thing as a sensitivity training. Nope we all were marching to the same drummer. Fags were just insane and treated as such. Being Homophobic was seen as a good thing. After all if a man had to go home and clean and or cook. What was she suppossed to do? work? Not my wife.
We must shove those long hair hippie, faggot, pinko, psuedo-intellectual type right out. Becuase it was thier fault society is in the mess it is in. No one had to question the way thing were. Men worked and woman stayed home to cook and clean. Take care of the kids as god had ordained. What was wrong with that?
Well everything and yes things do need to be questioned even today.
The biggest wrong was that the Fifties were not all that good. Lets face it when the blacks (excuse me african american) had to sit in the back of a bus. It showed an ill that was going to destroy society unless it was addressed. Today some would deny a people the right to even a civil union. This is still wrong.
How far have we moved from those mythical fifties? Brother, I am here to tell you we haven't moved far at all. So while some white protestant males lament the loss of a priviledge they never rightly had to begin with. The prejudice is still with us and we are just as far away from Martin Luther Kings speech of "I have a Dream".
Now we face another ill facing us as a society, accepting a people as full citizens. Instead of seeing thier differences as being somehow perverted or wrong. We should be celebrating the fact they want participate as full members of this country.
So while I am Wiccan, I am hoping that this minister will prevail. Every victory brings us one step closer to that dream that Martin Luther King spoke about so long ago.
Blessed Be
