a rant about hiding in the broom closet

I went over to witchvox.com, and to the link above, today and right here in my almost backyard, a woman up in Carbon County is sueing the local university. It seems she is sueing over what she feels is religious discrimination. I hope she wins. As this is the same county where a judge a yanked a womans kids because she happened to be pagan/wiccan.

While I have never really been in the "broom closet" . I am quite open about who and what I am. If you check the post that I left you will see that in part of a response to a Witch who has been in the broom closet for 25 years.

Personally, I don't understand such thinking. If you cann't deal with assholes of the world then find a differrent religion. Is that harsh? Probably to most of you it is. As I am currently dealing with a narrow minded fundie at work, I feel my attitude is warranted.

She at first was very friendly and we would eat lunch with a group of others. Somewhere along the line figured out that I was happy being Pagan. Had no desire to convert to christianity nor would I even entertain the thought. Suddenly I was evil and now she mutters under her breath whenever I am near her.

Any attempt on my part to actually find out why she suddenly hates me is met with a glare and walking away from me. People wonder why I get tired of bible thumping fools? This is why.

If a christain befriends me this scenerio is always in the back of my mind. First being friendly. Second building my trust in the friendship. Then the shoe drops. Well if your not going to convert then your damned to hell and I wont be your friend.

Bah!! I say good riddance to you then. I have bigger worries. Like, are they actually going to bring "Farscape" back... One can hope.

To get back to the point of this rant.

We all have people we must deal with regardless of ones beliefs. To hide your beliefs shows as much insecurity as the fundies trying to convert you. Stand up and fight for your beliefs. Sure you may not always win.

But if you don't make the attempt then you have assuredly lost. But this is my opinion; do as you want.

Blessed Be
